Aesthetics, Durability, Sustainability of Extruded Aluminum Trim

XTREMETRIM COURSE

“God is in the details”, one of several iconic phrases from Mies van der Rohe, which continues to haunt architects. Details are where architects can and do make a difference, and with today’s focus on green materials, detailing needs to meet architectural design, aesthetic and sustainability requirements. Specifying extruded aluminum trim for use with various materials is one instance where a knowledge of detailing can contribute to both.

Improved Fire Safety and Water Resistance with MgO Structural Panels

TAMLYN MgO COURSE

Magnesium Oxide (MgO) is a versatile chemical compound that is now being utilized by building product manufacturers to create structural panels. MgO panels are lightweight, cement-like materials and are a successful replacement for traditional structural panels. The enhanced fire-resistance qualities of the non-combustible material make them an ideal alternative to OSB. MgO panels are also water resistant and will not swell, deform or break down when exposed to water. When used in combination with water resistive barriers, MgO panels provide enhanced protection from the elements while contributing to the sustainability and durability of any building project.

A Full Look at Detailing with Extruded Aluminum

XTREMETRIM / XTREMEINTERIOR COURSE

Extruded aluminum trim for both interior and exterior applications is superior to alternative materials because it can withstand greater daily abuse, is more sustainable, and provides life-safety options such as fire resistance. These are all important considerations in high traffic commercial and multifamily residential spaces. Beyond performance, extruded aluminum trim will enhance interior spaces and exterior facades by adding sophistication, depth, color, and drama in the form of artful shadow lines, clean transitions, panelized surfaces, and walls that appear to float. This course will explore applications for interior and exterior extruded aluminum trim, as well as how it can improve sustainability and occupant safety in commercial buildings. We will compare its sustainability and other performance benefits to alternative trim materials and seek to understand why it’s a more aesthetically pleasing, functional, and sustainable choice.

Moisture Management Fundamentals

WATER MANAGMENT COURSE

Building enclosures are expected to manage and control moisture intrusion. Through a combination of building science, climate, and material feature discussions, this presentation will explore how to properly design water control layers for typical framed building enclosures. The discussion will focus on best practices for designing durable, resilient enclosures using moisture control systems that consider deflection, drainage, drying, and durability of the system components.

Improved Acoustics, Sustainability, and Ease of Installation Converge With Innovations in Pact Design

XTREMEINTERIOR COURSE

Perimeter Acoustical Ceiling Trim (PACT) is a practical and efficient building product that can provide benefits to architects, builders, installers and occupants in one simple solution. Designing and installing wall and ceiling assemblies in multifamily settings that address acoustic challenges requires evaluating each component of the assembly to ensure that all the parts are working in unison to provide a superior final product. Traditional trims often fail to manage noise and meet environmental standards. PACT solves these issues with innovative materials and design, improving sound absorption and reducing noise transfer for a quieter environment.
