Blending innovation with its strong legacy, Tamlyn is transforming modern construction
By Construction Today January 28, 2026
With a goal to bridge gaps between every segment of construction, from manufacturers to contractors, distributors, dealers, and designers, Tamlyn has been solving customers’ design and construction problems for more than 50 years. As a family-owned company, Tamlyn strives to be a good place to work, supporting its employees and their families, as well as prioritizing strong client partnerships.
By embracing the concept of continuous innovation, Tamlyn approaches every project with decades of expertise and a passion for further improving products and processes. The team takes time to fully understand customers’ problems and create genuine solutions using best practices and collaborative decision making.
Miguel Gonzales, CEO and President, joins us to elaborate on the company’s history, vision, and values. “The business was established as RH Tamlyn and Sons in 1971 by husband-and-wife-team Ron and Jean Tamlyn, and it has since evolved into the Tamlyn recognized today,” Miguel opens. “Almost 55 years later, and we remain committed to innovating design and construction for generations to come, with a specific focus on multi-family homes and residential mixed living developments. We partner with a lot of companies, especially for facades and cladding, and we also manufacture some products in house.”
Dana Madden, Vice President of Marketing, elaborates on Tamlyn’s day-to-day operations. “We’re headquartered in Houston, Texas, where most of our team is based, although we have some sales representatives across the country and in Mexico, the UK, and Brazil,” she says. “Although we’ve grown, we’re still a family-owned company and we pride ourselves on doing things right by our employees and the wider community. We don’t want to grow for the sake of it, as we want to continue providing the premium products and professional service we’re known for.”
“We’d love to double the size of the business over the next three to five years through organic growth, and by entering new markets”
High-performance products
Turning to its product portfolio, Miguel continues: “We provide a range of products, most of which fall into one of two categories: reveal systems for the cladding industry and water management products. However, we also offer accessories like ventilation products and structural connectors. Firstly, our reveal systems are available in a range of molds, sizes, and finishes, and create a minimalist shadow line with simple reveal space to allow installation vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
“In terms of water management, we leverage proven principles and products to develop a moisture management system that addresses all the mechanisms of the moisture environment. As part of this division, we offer three types of structural panels: TamlynShield, TamlynMgO, and Tamlyn MgO Plus. Our panels are water and fire resistant, and TamlynMgO is a non-combustible, structural sheathing panel for both interior and exterior applications. These panels are made from magnesium oxide rather than OSD, plywood, plaster, or gypsum, which ensures fire resistance, structural performance, and ease of use.”
Tamlyn offers a diverse range of water management systems, including the TamlynWrap® Drainable Wrap. “TamylnWrap is a unique moisture management product designed to allow more bulk water to drain from the wall without compromising the cladding products,” Miguel explains. “By combining a high-performance Water Resistive Barrier (WRB) with a unique drainage pattern, our Drainable Wrap can remove up to 100 times more water versus standard wraps and can also be installed in any direction, offering greater flexibility.”
With market demand constantly evolving, Tamlyn has a strong approach to innovation and new product development. “Our focus is working with the architects, engineers, builders, and other tradespeople to better understand what their needs are before deeply researching how we can develop or improve a product,” Miguel explains. “One of the things Tamlyn does best is collaborate with our partners and customers to identify the latest trends or anticipate challenges coming our way. We’ve worked closely with James Hardie, for instance, as well as lots of other partners, to design improved products for specific applications.
“We approach all relationships, whether that’s with employees or customers, as genuine long-term partnerships. As a third-generation family business, we genuinely care about our people and prioritize values of open communication, respect, integrity, and trust. For our vendors, we carefully assess the value we can bring to each relationship, and with genuine passion for what we do, we treat our products like our babies.”
Continual innovation
Looking ahead, Tamlyn’s legacy of craftsmanship, integrity, and strong partnerships will inevitably continue to drive the company forward. Despite evolving from a family business into a respected industry leader, Tamlyn’s values and passion for problem solving remain at the company’s core. To finish our conversation, Miguel turns to what’s next for Tamlyn.
“We’d love to double the size of the business over the next three to five years through organic growth, innovation, and by entering new markets,” Miguel concludes. “I’m sure we will launch new products that haven’t even been designed yet, and we’ll enter new markets and categories while maintaining our reputation in multi-family and mixed residential living. From day one, we’ve focused on bringing great value to the industry with a mission to design a better tomorrow. We remain committed to this goal and we’re constantly innovating to ensure we have the right products and processes in place to solve customers’ problems.”
